Join our volunteer team!
At BEACON, we believe in the transformative power of literacy and language education. We’re thrilled that you’re considering joining us in this important and fulfilling work.
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to accommodate your skills, interests, and availability. Our goal is to match you with a role that aligns with your strengths and schedule. To get started on this rewarding journey, please follow our onboarding process:
Step 1: Attend a Volunteer Information Session Our informative sessions are held twice a month. To view session dates and RSVP, click here or fill out the form on the left.
Step 2: Complete Volunteer Forms After attending the information session, you’ll receive the necessary forms, including the application, code of conduct, and acknowledgment of the handbook.
Step 3: Background Check By invitation from our staff, complete a background check to ensure the safety of our students and volunteers.
Step 4: Observe a Class and Attend Training Gain valuable insights by observing a class and participating in our training sessions.
We are currently seeking volunteers to teach ESOL classes and/or serve as a substitute teacher for our Winter 2025 Class Dates: Dec. 1, 2025- March 5, 2026. Our greatest need is for MORNING online and EVENING in-person volunteers! No teaching or second language experience is required- we will train you and offer ongoing support and professional development opportunities.
These volunteer roles are critical to our mission. To ensure the best match for your strengths and abilities, we encourage all interested volunteers to attend an information session to learn more about what is involved.
Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact Seth Mazarro, Volunteer Coordinator, at smazzaro@osbva.org.
